Hurley-Byrd Seed Catcher Trays are Second to None!
A Hurley-Byrd Seed Catcher Tray is not just a beautiful accessory, it's a brutally strong one too.
A year ago we received a customer photo showing a bear cub hanging from a tray and the letter
stated "the cub was hanging on the end of the tray while doing chin ups to see what was up there." This
same tray is still in use today with no ill effects. We do not recommend our seed trays as
a chin-up bars but it's an indicator to this tray's strength and durability.
The Hurley-Byrd Seed Catcher Tray is not just strong and durable, It's beautiful, easy to erect, simple to
maintain and a joy to clean. We have expanded the original seed tray into four trays of varying sizes to
match our new large sized feeders and now, all our small-pole-mounted feeders too. These trays can also
be mounted on a post by itself as an open tray feeder or installed with other brands of feeders.
Is it easy to assemble, install and mount?
Absolutely! The tray comes either completely assembled or the underside mount needs to
be attached to the tray using the supplied brass screws. When required, assembly is very easy and
instructions are included. Different trays ship in different configurations due to limitations in packaging.
Once assembled, the large tray simply slips over your 4x4 (3 1/2" x 3 1/2") post and small trays
are designed to fit 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" cedar poles (purchased separately). The tray's center hole is slightly
larger than the post providing a small amount of play for leveling of the tray. The tray is then secured to the
post with two brass screws, which are supplied. Since the tray does not attach to the feeder or feeder mount,
it can be located anywhere along the post's length and at any distance from the feeder or ground. This
allows you to optimize the tray's "catching" capability and provides the best possible view.
